Artesia Apartments and Hotel

Connecting three residential apartment towers and one hotel tower is a 300m-long landscape podium. What makes this space more interesting is that the long podium subdivides into a series of outdoor rooms. The effect is a series of varying and human-scaled spaces.

As one of the key spaces along the podium, the hotel swimming pool offers its guests long-distance views over the adjacent golf course.

Overlooking the swimming pool are outdoor cabanas, joined to create a longer, pavilion-like structure. These provide semi-private lounging spaces.
Other amenities along the podium are a sports area, playgrounds, shaded seating and a second swimming pool for the residential apartments. Detailed coordination with the structural engineers allowed for ample tree planting as well. In time, tree canopies will greatly enhance the quality of the space along the podium and offer lush views for the apartment residents and hotel guests looking down on it.
These sections show the relationships between key spaces on the landscape podium.
The design of the pool edge detailing emerged through our coordination with the swimming pool’s mechanical engineering and plumbing specialist. An 80mm-thick coping overhangs the surface of the water with a 20mm shadow gap.
