Dubai Hills Estate Golf Course Clubhouse

Dubai Hills Estate is a residential community set around an 18-hole championship golf course. The centrepiece of that community is the clubhouse.

From its position on a low hilltop, the clubhouse overlooks the golf course. Enriching the hillsides around it are generous plantings of flowing grasses (Pennisetum setaceum) and native trees (Prosopis cineraria, Acacia arabica). The overall composition creates the character of a dry grassland landscape.

Around it, generous plantings of tall clumping grasses (Pennisetum setaceum) flow in waves as the breezes move across the hillside. Punctuating the monochromatic silver-green coloured slopes is the dark foliage of native trees (Prosopis cineraria and Acacia arabica).

Walls among the planting lend structure to the overall composition. They also help with wayfinding, identifying the stairs and paths through the thickly planted grasses.
The cladding for the clubhouse walls is off-white limestone from the region. The same stone appears in the landscape as wall cladding and coping. The approach of mechanically fixing stone to the concrete base both holds the larger units and creates a clean and contemporary aesthetic. Complementing this mass of the walls is the detailing of handrails and railings. Their metal flats, powder-coated in cool grey, create a light visual effect.
In the spaces for outdoor dining around the clubhouse, diners sit alongside planting. From the dining terraces, they can look out to the golf course over the tops of the long grasses swaying in the breeze.
